Everyone knows the adage—you can go longer without food than water. Yes, this true! Water is one of our body’s 6 essential nutrients. It is very essential because our body does not have the capacity to store water in significant volumes. So, we need to consume adequate fluids daily to hydrate every cell in our body.

For the grind Shayadri Classic makes one go through, hydrating with water alone is not sufficient.We need to replenish the body’s electrolytes/minerals, which are lost through sweating.The chart below shows fluid intake recommendations:
When | How Much |
Before Start of the Race | Night Prior to Race Day: 500 ml to 1 L 30 minutes before: 250 ml |
During the Race | 120 ml of fluid every 15 to 20 minutes (2 to 3 large gulps) |
After the Race | 500 ml to 600 ml of fluid for every 0.5 kg weight lost (1 to 1½ water bottles per 0.5 kg lost) |
